The name Zobnatica is mentioned for the first time in the so-called Permanent Agreement of the year 1743 in which Zobnatica, being one of the twelve barren areas, forms part of the town Subotica. However, there is a number of beliefs relating to the origins of the term Zobnatica. One of them is that "zobnatica" is a derivative of the term "zobnica" (a linen bag full of oats hung on the neck of a horse for the purpose of their feeding).
The Zobnatica of today has become a tourist and recreation center visited by over 35,000 people annually. It is well-known for its horse farm with a tradition in breeding thoroughbred horses in the period of over 200 years.
